The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank will facilitate the recovery, evaluation and processing of your donor's eye tissue. RMLEB is a charitable, nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado, and is accredited by the Eye Bank Association of America.
Chartered in 1982 by the Lions Clubs of Colorado and Wyoming, the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank is now one of the world's leading eye banks. The eye bank's primary mission is to carry out the wishes of our donors and to cure blindness through transplantation and medical research. Each year nearly 2,000 people benefit from cornea transplants facilitated by RMLEB.
As part of our worldwide humanitarian mission of sight-restoration, the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank has developed an international placement program. Corneas that cannot be placed with suitable recipients in the United States benefit from international searches for suitable recipients. In this way, the eye bank assures that no transplantable eye tissue is wasted. To assist international communities with their transplant needs, RMLEB has helped establish eye banking programs on every continent.
As a transplant recipient, we encourage you to schedule a tour of the eye bank's facilities or call if you have any questions about the donation or transplantation process. Contact the Public & Professional Relations Department at 720-848-3937 or toll-free at 800-444-7479.
The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank is in the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the
University of Colorado Health Sciences Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
