Job Description

Eligibility and Recovery Supervisor
Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank

Are you a compassionate, experienced leader who can guide a team through highly detailed and meaningful work? Do you know how to set clear expectations, coach with dignity, and navigate healthy conflict? Would you enjoy helping ensure every donor referral and eligibility decision is handled carefully, efficiently, and in accordance with the highest medical and ethical standards?
If so, the Eligibility and Recovery Supervisor (ERS) position at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank may be the perfect fit.

Why This Work Matters
Jerry was an all-star high school athlete on his way to college with a full-ride scholarship. Many believed he had a future in the major leagues. But more than anything, Jerry was known for his kindness and generosity.
After a tragic accident took his life, Jerry’s long-time wish to be an organ and tissue donor became incredibly important. His best friend had received a life-saving kidney transplant years earlier, and Jerry always knew he wanted to help others the same way.
Fulfilling that wish requires a skilled and compassionate team—people who can support families, coordinate recovery, carefully determine donor eligibility, and help ensure each gift can be used safely for transplant, research, or education.

As the Eligibility and Recovery Supervisor, you could be the leader who helps that team honor every donor, serve every family with care, and maximize the opportunity to restore sight.

Position Overview
The Eligibility and Recovery Supervisor (ERS) reports to the Technical Manager and leads the daily planning, delegation, training, and oversight of RMLEB’s recovery and eligibility functions. This position supervises Field Recovery, On-Call Recovery, Recovery Coordinator, and Eligibility staff while ensuring timely donor referral response, complete eligibility determinations, high-quality tissue procurement, consistent policy application, and excellent service to donation partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily recovery and eligibility operations, including staff planning, scheduling, delegation, and workflow oversight
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, ongoing coaching, quarterly one-to-one meetings, and annual performance reviews for assigned staff

  • Develop or support training materials, refresher education, competency assessments, and continuous improvement efforts in partnership with the Technical Manager and Quality Assurance
  • Apply organizational policies consistently, communicate clear expectations, provide respectful feedback, and address performance concerns with guidance from the Technical Manager
  • Maintain quality-control documentation, analyze and report operational data, lead staff check-ins or huddles, and assist with troubleshooting and preventive-action efforts
  • Step into Eligibility Specialist, Distribution Coordinator, Recovery Coordinator, Lab Technician, or Recovery Technician functions when operationally necessary

  • Organized, decisive, and comfortable balancing people leadership with detailed, time-sensitive operational work
  • Strong communicators who provide excellent customer service and contribute to a healthy team and organizational culture
  • Knowledgeable about tissue evaluation, donor eligibility, tissue suitability, EBAA Medical Standards, and FDA regulations—or able to bring comparable experience from donation, healthcare, life sciences, or a related field
